Description
This Aiwa SA-P50H mini component power amplifier is in mint operating condition and good cosmetic condition. It was produced from 1980 to 1981 and has a retail price of 5.00. It features a large toroidal core power transformer and two 15,000uF/50 Volt filter capacitors totaling 30,000uF at B voltages of +- 44.1 Volts, at idle. Massive external heat-sinking of the four discreet bipolar output devices allows for very cool operation, even with difficult loads. The 1st
stage employs dual-FET differential pairs. The front panel includes LED power indicators, a power switch, A-B speaker switches and a headphone jack. The rear apron has 8 push-type speaker terminals, 2 RCA input jacks and a 110-220 Volt selector switch. The unit measures 11.5"W x 10.25" x 2.875"H and weighs in at 12.5lb, unboxed (approx. 15lb, boxed appropriately). I will include an RMS power chart from my own tests. Into an 8Ω non-inductive test load, better than 55.1 Watts per channel are
available from 20Hz-60kHz
, with both channels driven. Into a 4
Ω
load better than 67 Watts per channel are available from 20Hz-80kHz. The power output ratings are obviously quite conservative. Cosmetically, the amp is good, with some visible scratches on the top edge of the front panel and the top of the metal cover. I bought this unit about 5 years ago, and have used it occasionally, as a part of my large collection of vintage solid-state audio components.
